Bearded collies are a recognized breed of the American Kennel Club (AKC) and is therefore able to obtain a designation of "Champion". The AKC can give this title to bearded collies that have the desired physical traits as outlined in the breed standard and that obtain the required number of wins from AKC approved dog shows.
